The Hunt

He was fine thankfully(Magic,I mean).I brought Spotty to a Hunt yesterday.It was Brill.We crossed a small wall and a really deep river.My feet got soaked but I didnt really mind.Thankfully I had a dry pair of socks in the lorry.I just excersised Flash gently for 15 minutes today.BYE!!!

Uh Oh!!

Sparky has cut his leg and he is very tender on it.We got Bute from the vet and we put Savlon on it.Hopefully it will be ok for my next lesson.Magic is going to his first lesson tomorrow.I hope he doesnt react too much to being around other ponies.I hope to ride him this evening.I am typing this on the school computer!!!

Jumping with Clem

I went to lesson with Clem Mc Mahon today.Despite it being a jumping lesson we did almost all flatwork which just goes to show that it is not all about jumping.At the end he put up a fence and we had to try and get the right stride.I did a couple of times anyway.There is so much jumping we have to go back tomorrow to jump again.Whoops!I forgot to say I took Sparky.He was quite good.After tomorrow he will be getting a week or ten days off jumping.Shows are not back on for a while so I have plenty of time to school Magic.Which is good as I'm still only getting to know him.

Colds and Flu

I rode Sparky today and did loads of poles and trotting.Its not all about cantering you know!!It got dark very quickly but that was ok "cause I wasnt jumping.Here is a tip for you.In winter ponies get colds at least once.Heres a few tips on how to prevent it.
1.Each pony should have there own bucket so that the flu wont spread as easily.also wash the buckets carefully at least once a week.It can be fun making nametags for all the buckets!!Make sure they're tough and water proof.
2.Ring your vet ant get at least three packets of anti-flu powder.That way the flu wont develop as much and will be easier to get rid of.
3At all times your pony should have at least one good rug on and if he lives out it should be water-proof
4After exercise or sweating rug your pony up quickly and dont let him get cold.Also garlic in his feed helps his lungs to fight it off
5Warm up and cool down your pony properly
6If you can ,dont share equitment like bridles,buckets...
7Most importantly if your pony is sick call the vet for proffessional advice
8ponies love a hot bran mash and it boosts their immune system!!

Quirkey Niall

Today I had a flat work lesson with Niall Quirke,who trains the army.I brought Sparky and he was very good.We had to do loads of circles , bending and flexing which is very important for jumping.It was for 40Min's and I really enjoyed it.Normally Sparky is very strong but for some reason today he was very relaxed.I was a bit nervous but he was a complete angel.Next Friday and Saturday(it is spread over two days)I am having a jumping lesson with Clem Mc Mahon.I am taking Sparky and I am really looking forward to it.Clodagh did the flat work lesson with me on her pony Speedy and she will probably be doing the jumping with me although this time there will be four people in it.I rode Magic afterwards.His jumping is really coming on.Sorry I didn't Post yesterday.Just so you know I rode the two ponies yesterday as well.

Masta Rug Competition

I have entered a competition to win four masta rugs .Two are indoor rugs and two are outdoor rugs.Sadly you cannot send post today but I am hoping that if I send them tomorrow it will be in time to win.I am officially out of 12.2hh.I rode Magic today and he was wonderful, snapping his legs up at every jump.Such a fickle little chap.I rode Sparky as well but I just did flat work with him.That reminds me I have a flat work lesson on Saturday.All our numnahs have been washed and cleaned so I am just using the one to try and keep the rest of them clean.Our tack room got a serious make-over recently so it has in inspired me to keep things tidy.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!! This year everybody is making resolutions to tack clean(yeah right)keep the stable mucked out at all times(thats gonna last about...maybe 2 minutes?!) and to clear out the lorry more often(old habits are hard to break you know?!).Still I am trying to be positive.I am really going to try to ride Magic and Sparky at least three times during the week, not including the show.Of course weather is a problem when you dont have an indoor arena but anyway a little rain never hurt anyone(unless your trying to ride and its pelting hailstones!!).If you have any tips for me please leave them in comments as well as your e-mail and I will reply to you.
